Course: Modern Techniques and Applications for Real-Time Non-Rigid Registration

Level: Beginner

Prerequisites: We do not require previous knowledge beyond basic math and geometry. We will introduce all relevant background and the main mathematical tools.

Presentation Language: English

Intended Audience: Our course targets active researchers and computer graphics practitioners with a background in computer graphics and/or computer vision.

Organizer: Dr. Tagliasacchi is an assistant professor at the University of Victoria. He was a post doctoral scholar at EPFL and obtained his PhD from SFU, and his MSc (cum laude) from Politecnico di Milano. Currently is the PI on the NSERC Discovery grant “Real-Time Modeling and Registration of Dynamic Geometry”. Dr. Li is an assitant processor at the University of Southern California, and CEO of Pinscreen. He was a postdoctoral researcher at Columbia and Princeton and a research lead at Industrial Light&Magic. He obtained his PhD from ETH Zurich and his MSc degree from the University of Karlsruhe.

Speaker(s):
Sofien Bouaziz, EPFL
Andrea Tagliasacchi, University of Victoria
Hao Li, USC/ICT
Mark Pauly, EPFL

Summary: The course covers the foundations of registration algorithms by introducing their mathematical foundations and laying out practical tools for the design of real-time computer graphics/vision systems that jointly leverage color and depth sensor data, as well as pre-processed annotated datasets.
